My involvement with, and acting as team co-captain with John Lamb for the Westling team under coach Jack Cohen. John and I were best friends through high school and eventually became brother-in-laws when we both married a Vashro sister - I Married Barb and John Married Mary

After receiving my MBA degree I started with Caterpillar Tractor in July 1970 as a systems programmer working primarily with business system design and COBOL programming. I eventually became a Senior System Designer responsible for the design and implementation a of several main frame computer systems responsible for processing and paying dealer warranty claims worldwide. This was the first time in Caterpillar's history that any system processed data from their overseas facilities. I later led the team that designed systems to analyze warranty failures with the capability of automated approval of claims. My work was with IBM 370 main frame systems and IBM IMS data base systems. When I left the company in 1978 I was one of the foremost experts in the company related to JCL (Job Control Language) and the theory and implementation of Structured COBOL programming.

I have been an avid word-worker for many years and have built many pieces of fine furniture. For many years my wife Barb and I have dreamed of living in the mountains near Lincoln Montana. I inherited the family cabin in 1985 and have been working and making improvements ever since. We started a major remodel of the cabin in 2001 and in 2007 I began working fulltime on the project - we now have a six bedroom home in the mountains with wonderful views of the upper Blackfoot Valley,
and the Scapegoat Wilderness. Unfortunately,
during the same time frame,
the US Forest Service and the Montana DEQ have been secretly planning a huge mine waste repository immediately across from our home and property. My time is now consumed by efforts to stop this ridiculous project which could ultimately place 1.2 million cubic yards of mine wastes next to the Blackfoot River.
